Former U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary to Address AARP Chapter

Southwest Fulton Chapter 3793 to host event November 13

Atlanta — Former United States Secretary of Health and Human Services and founding Dean and President Emeritus of Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) Louis W. Sullivan, M.D., will address senior healthcare at an upcoming AARP Chapter event. The AARP Southwest Fulton Chapter 3793 will host the November 13 affair from 1– 3 p.m. at Hoosier Memorial United Methodist Church in Atlanta.

Dr. Sullivan will entertain questions from the audience following his remarks. MSM will offer free blood pressure screenings and answer questions regarding health promotion and disease and injury prevention.

About Louis W. Sullivan

With the exception of his tenure as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from 1989 to 1993, Dr. Louis W. Sullivan served as president of Morehouse School of Medicine — the first predominantly black medical school established in the 20^th Century — for more than two decades. He retired July 1, 2002 and was appointed president emeritus. Dr. Sullivan is the author of The Morehouse Mystique: Becoming a Doctor at the Nation’s Newest African American Medical School (with Marybeth Gasman, 2012, Johns Hopkins University Press) and his award-winning autobiography Breaking Ground: My Life in Medicine (with David Chanoff, 2014, University of Georgia Press).
